Sister Monica Dawkins, Traveling Minister

Sister Monica Dawkins, born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut is the youngest of four children born to the late Van and Etta Dawkins.

She pursued her higher education at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Monica went on to have a distinguished career as a Social Worker with the State of Connecticut, where she demonstrated a deep commitment to serving individuals and communities in need.

Following her retirement from state service, Monica continues to support her community as a Community Health Worker with The Ministerial Health Fellowship Advocacy Coalition, where her focus is on improving health outcomes through education and outreach.

In January 2021, Monica answered the call to ministry, further solidifying her dedication to service and spiritual leadership. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, an organization that aligns with her values of public service, sisterhood and scholarship. Monica lives by the motto, “If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain”, a guiding principal that shapes her life’s work and purpose.
